about us . . . |
|
The Murder Club, where the game plays you! The Murder Cub allows you to step inside the story, meet characters, explore crime scenes, and confront the villains. While our public events emphasize involvement and deduction, some of our private events actually provide scenario simulations where guests can be eliminated by the killer, adding a whole new depth to the role playing. The Murder Club creates an event that not only "hooks" you with a story and characters, but lets you actually engage in a battle of wits with the characters. We’re the longest-running interactive event group in Louisville, and provide the most options for full audience involvement. Our productions are not “canned” plays, or simple presentations: they involve the audience, challenge the imagination, and entertain on a personal, one-on-one level. Generally this is dictated by the venue, but we recommend however you dress, make sure you’re comfortable and ready to get involved! Our events are participatory, and that means you should dress to have fun! 2. Will we have to participate? Audience participation is voluntary. It's up to you if you want to join in or not. The actors are skilled at knowing who wants to interact and who doesn't. With some cameo roles, our actors approach guest before the show begins to make sure you want to participate. We also provide three approaches to play, which allows individuals to set their own style and level of interaction. Each event can be won by character interaction, crime scene investigation, or by thoroughly reading the printed material provided at each event. This gives everyone an equal chance to win, depending on their particular style of play. Of course, combining any or all of these three approaches will only increase the chance of success! Most of our events are performed for private patrons, and tickets must be acquired through those groups. Our public performances are primarily by “invitation” to past guests, and then open to public attendance by special notices on our website. We do limit the number of guests at our productions to insure the highest maximum Actor-to-Guest ration. If you have questions, or wish to be added to our “invitation” list, call 502-742-9345, or email us by clicking here. 4. Do you perform at private homes? Yes, although some locations are better suited for our events than others. If your space is capable of hosting a comfortable party for 20 or so individuals, then it probably could host our event with no difficulty. The Murder Club is not a place: it’s an event. 5. "What is interactive theater?" Interactive, or "environmental" theater means that there is no segregation between actors and audience. The play takes place throughout the entire room, in front of you, behind you, maybe even in the next seat. You have an opportunity to really be a part of the show - or, if you'd rather, just sit back, watch, and enjoy the show around you. 6. How do you arrange your fee? You will receive a contract within a few days of contact. Read the contract, sign it and return the signed copy with a 50% nonrefundable deposit to secure your reservation. Your final head count and entree choices are due two weeks prior to your scheduled performance date. Final payment is due on the date of the show. 8. Where do you get your ideas? From the news, from history, and from the dark creative genius of Mr. Fluhr. Yes. From blood splatter patterns to lividity, every effort has been made to produce mysteries with forensic accuracy for the hard-core sleuths in attendance. We do reserve the right to change certain details concerning poisons, or even to make up a few of our own, to avoid giving the wrong people the wrong ideas. 10 Who are your actors? Research Specialists? We use a core group of actors skilled in improvisation and characterization. Due to schedules and availability, we cast each production from available actors. We also maintain a network of consultants, ranging from lawyers to police officers, for fact-checking and research. Our other resources are confidential. 11. Do you always use the same actors? No. We cast for each event based on the availability of our cast. 12. Does a guest have to interact with the actors to enjoy the show? No. All of our events are designed to be solved from three different directions: from pure interaction with the suspects, through crime scene investigation, or through a comprehensive reading of material provided at the event. Of course, combining any or all of these methods will increase your chances.
